Beneteau’s new line of cruising sailboats underlines how firm is the company’s grasp not only on its customers’ desires but on how to meet them by building well-equipped boats. The 40 plus footers of this vintage are much bigger than those of previous years. Much of the improvement of extra volume comes from higher freeboard and longer waterlines and is most noticeable with the interior space.The 423 was offered in in two configurations: a two and three cabin version. Southern Wind is presented with 2 cabins. Both layouts have the same forward cabin and head, dining area, aft head, and engine compartment. The two-cabin version has a short settee on the port side of the saloon with a nav desk aft of it, a large galley aft to starboard, and a cabin to port. Of note, the saloon table where six can sit comfortably and eight at a squeeze. An extra settee to port can accommodate two, possibly a third, depending on comfort requirements. Headroom in the 423's spacious saloon is 6 feet 5 inches, and it tapers gradually downward as you go forward. The galley is included with this generous headroom, which gives hot air from the stove a direct path to escape through the well-placed hatch. The aft galley has lots of counter space over the fridge/freezer, which has both a front-opening section and a top-opening section.

Engine access is available from a snubber assisted pivoting gangway, plus two access doors: one in the guest berth sidewall and the other on the galley area sidewall.

The interior has ample storage compartments, both displayed and concealed. When emerging out from the salon entry, one is offered generous cockpit seating which can accommodate 6-8, excluding the helm position. Two additional bosun chairs are situated directly P&S of the helm.

The Beneteau 423 is a great configuration design which will offer its passengers an enjoyable journey for long or short distances.
