Description

Commissioned in 1999 - Completed in 2000

                   Second owner, never chartered.

3 cabin owner’s version, new rigging, dual helm stations, refit 2021, HUGE non-displacing storage, ready for world cruising. Light use (two Bahama trips), unique wing keels provide exceptional stability, shallow draft, and narrow beam allowing it to fit in smaller Travelifts. Built tough for the North Sea by legendary Prout Catamarans of England.

Comfort, luxury, TRUE off-shore performance are the hallmarks of Prout Catamarans and this beautiful, RARE edition Prout 46 has it all and then some. From her rich cherry wood interior with inlaid 8 place dining table, to her queen size PLUS staterooms, to a true off-shore cockpit complete with Harken electric winches, there are no compromises when it comes to this well maintained yacht. This quality catamaran has all the amenities for a luxurious liveaboard and all the right equipment on board for world cruising.

Throughout her interior, careful attention has been paid to the design and quality of her furnishings and fittings. Rich cherry wood and fine ultrasuede upholstery give her a stately and refined look. No flimsy latches, fake plastic wood, or cheap polyester common to so many production yachts today.

Hull and deck are both one-piece moldings in hand laid glass fiber, using powder bound mat, bi-axial rovings, and Kevlar reinforcement in high load areas. 1 1/2 inch solid structural bulkheads throughout. Below the water line is 5/8 inch solid laminate, while topsides and deck incorporate end grain balsa core. Non structural bulkheads are foam cored. Unique wing keels are integrally molded and sealed off from the hulls and along with the fiberglass molded water tanks form a “double bottom” for extra safety. HUGE watertight bulkheads fore and aft.

The anodized aluminum mast is stepped just forward of the cockpit, consequentially the rig is characterized by a relatively small mainsail, staysail, and large jib. The fractional cutter rig with full batten main, Mack Pack, roller furling-self-tacking staysail, and roller furling jib, allow for EASY sail handling.

A true offshore cockpit, well protected from weather, with 360 degree visibility, allows access to the mast and ALL lines from the helm. Two well placed self tailing electric Harken 53 winches provide safe and simple sailing even in the roughest conditions. This is a proper, low center of gravity yacht easily handled by one or two people. No “pop top” helm seat or perilously high boom common to so many “party” catamarans today.

The relatively narrow beam (20’10”) and shallow draft (3’9”) for a catamaran of this length made possible by the unique winged keels, allow for easy handling, smaller Travelifts, and shallow water cruising. Well insulated, stand up engine rooms are easily accessed through large deck hatches as well as both berths. 40hp Volvo diesels make for quiet, fast, and efficient motoring (1.5-1.7 gph@2600rpm@6knts). 8 knots at 3000 rpm.

"Kashmir" is a unique catamaran available for luxurious liveaboard and world cruising today!

SPARE PARTS

This boat is outfitted for serious offshore cruising and has numerous spares.

Fresh water pumps, raw water pumps, autopilot parts, engine parts, toilet rebuilds, and WAY too many others to list here.

Wing Keel Design

Please note, bottom is cleaned monthly by local diver.

Kashmir's Wing keels

Provide resistance to hull lift enabling a narrower beam (20'10") and shallower draft (3'9") while providing excellent stability with added   benefit, , they allow the boat to sit on the bottom.

Kashrmi's Nacelle (middle hull section  between  the keels)

helps to split oncoming waves, therefore reducing pounding.
