MEDIA DESCRIPTION

Based on the classic Herreshoff design, "Ticonderoga," Cherubini 48's are one of the fastest displacement monohull sailboats built anywhere at any time (11 knots on a close reach, surfs at 13 knots!). She can carry an enormous amount of sail to ghost with the slightest zephyr, and yet still reef down and roar through the strongest gale. The designers at Cherubini have accomplished this through one of the finest applications of the Scheel-keel concepts found anywhere, with hull lines flowing sweet enough to make any Herreshoff swear in envy (yet only drawing 5'6"!). Better yet, the staysail schooner rig is one of the easiest arrangements to deal with when short-handed, but compromises nothing for power and grace at sea..

Traditional schooner layout with two deckhouses/coachroofs, high-grade varnished mahogany trim throughout, and woven-cane cabinetry doors to all storage/hanging lockers (for full ventilation). Aft deckhouse has a separate companionway leading from the cockpit to the master stateroom. The master stateroom is equipped with a queen-size berth to starboard, with an upholstered settee to port with library above, extensive storage, hanging lockers, a complete navigation station with chart table in the forward part of the cabin, and an ensuite head with shower stall and sink on the starboard side forward of the berth.

Passing through a portside passageway from the master stateroom forward brings one to the main salon, which has a separate companionway from the deck down from the aft part of the forward coachroof. A U-shaped galley is situated on the starboard side, and pilot berth is on the port side.

The main salon has two full settees with storage above on either side of a large table with folding leaves. The portside settee may be pulled out to form a double bed, and the starboard side settee may also be used as a berth if necessary. Forward of the salon is the forward/guest stateroom, which has a vestibule with hanging lockers to starboard and drawers to port, a very large queen V-berth with shelves above on both sides, and a large Lexan hatch above the bed for light and ventilation. An extremely comfortable Cherubini 'mushroom' shaped helming station/cockpit features mahogany wheel steering. Also featured is a Vetus bow-thruster, cockpit controls, keel-stepped aluminum masts, and Navtec rod standing rigging.

Like other "thoroughbreds"  of her size and vintage, Antonina has competed in several famous offshore races and has placed very well as a contender: The Atlantic Cup Race (which ran from Tortola, BVI to Bermuda): Proudly placed first. The Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race: Placed third in many of these races and second in one race. Avalon, NJ Race: Placed second.

Antonina is a fine example of the Cherubini boat building tradition. Although she is of the 80s vintage, she far outshines many a competitor built in the 2000s

Come and view this timeless beauty. Owner is ready to sell!
